Coach Introduction Email Examples

Hey Coaches.

Are you in need of a E-mail template to send out your first team e-mail.

Look no further. Below are 10 different e-mail samples used by the great coaches of Buzzardball. Feel free to copy and paste. And then make it your own.

NO. 1 --

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the Buzzardball 2nd Grade Chicago Bulls!

I want to start off by thanking Rachel Greenberg for spearheading the effort to gauge interest and put this team together.

And a special shout out to Steve Buzzard for accommodating our request to keep our kids together on the same team.

Our team is comprised of kids from St. Michael's, plus we are excited to be joined by one player from Sacred Heart (Bodhi Crouch)!

Our roster and much more information is available at: Buzzardball Youth Basketball Carmichael (buzzardballhoops.net)

I have had the opportunity to meet almost everyone through school, but for those who I haven't had the pleasure of meeting yet, my name is Peter Fotopoulos and I will be the coach for our team. My son Phillip is on the team, and this will be his (our) first year participating in Buzzardball. I believe a few of you are Buzzardball "veterans", so I will plan on leaning on you for support and experience along the way.

While I plan on completely scheduling my work responsibilities and travel around Buzzardball (lol), it would be great to have a couple parents also help out with practices in case an emergency comes up and I am unable to attend a practice, or a game, later on in the season. If you have any interest in helping out, please let me know.

Here are a few housekeeping items:

- Our practices will be on Thursday from 4:30pm - 5:30pm at Sierra Oaks - 171 Mills Road, Sacramento, CA 95864. This was the closest facility to most of us, so I fought hard for it. I hope this day/time works for everyone. If you have a conflict, please let me know.

- The 2nd graders will be playing on an 8ft hoop.

- We will be playing with a size 27.5 basketball. We would like each player to bring their own ball to practice. And I strongly encourage you to write your child's name on their ball.

- Each player should bring a water bottle to practice as well.

And here are some key dates:

- Practice begins next week (Thursday, 12/9 is our first practice)

- Sun., 12/19: Scrimmage Day (on hold) at Sports Courts Fitness - 3727 Bradview Dr., Sacramento, CA 95827 (Times TBA)

- Sun., 1/2: 2022 Schedules will be posted

- Sun., 1/9: Winter League Opening Day

- Sun., 2/13: Photo Day

- Sun., 3/6: Last day of K-2 Buzzardball

My absolute top priority/goal for this season is to make sure that all of our kids have FUN and enjoy the amazing game of basketball! And hopefully we can teach them some of the basic fundamentals along the way (dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding, and defense).

Finally, (I'm sorry for this long email), please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. The best way to reach me is on my cell (916-606-5717). Feel free to text or call. And I'll also do my best to respond to email same day.

Thanks,

Peter Fotopoulos

NO. 2 --

Good Morning,

We would like to welcome all of you to the Miami Heat! It’s a brand new season here at Buzzardball and we are very excited to have the opportunity to coach your child this winter. We will begin practicing Saturday Dec 11, from 12-1, at Sports Court Fitness. SCF is located at: 3727 Bradview Dr #100, Sacramento, CA 95827.

We have a full month before we play any games.  Our first game is Sunday January 9th. As soon as our game schedule drops I’ll forward that to all. That said, I ask that your child arrives to practice ready to play. Please have the kids bring a basketball (27.5) and water bottle to all practices.

My wife and I have a few goals for the upcoming season:

1. To have fun while building team concepts.

2. To improve or develop basketball fundamentals: DEFENSE, dribbling, passing, shooting, and rebounding.

3. Develop individual skills from exactly their skill level NOW.

4. Overall to be better skilled going forward as a hooper.

5. Lastly, but most important to us: To build a lasting CONFIDENCE that empowers each child to not only believe in themselves, but truly believe that ANYTHING that they set their minds to can be accomplished with confidence and self-esteem.

That said, sports played a major role in my life. Many times, it was all I had to turn too. I remember one coach to this day. He believed in me, I was talented but lacked discipline, self worth and confidence. He cared about me when I could care less about myself. I say this because as a volunteer coach it’s easy to go through the motions. I refuse to go through the motions. I’m dedicated to your child and their development and I  want to be the coach your child remembers!

I greatly look forward to meeting you and your child this Saturday. This season will be fun, exciting, and full of opportunity. Again, thank you for trusting me to coach your children. I will not let them down.

Warmest regards,

Desmond Anglin & Karen Mejia-Anglin

Aka: Coach D & Coach K

NO. 3 --

My name is Tyler Madden, and I'm very excited to be your child's coach this season :).  I'm a high school English teacher and instructional coach here in Sacramento, and my son Brighton will be playing on the team this year.  I have loved the game of basketball since I was a little kid. I played four years at Nevada Union High School (graduating in 2001) and have played in a few recreation leagues since then. I'm happy for the opportunity to pass on my love of the game to your child.

For this season, I have a couple goals:

1. Have fun!  This is the most important goal, and one we can all impact by being positive and encouraging.

2. Improve basketball fundamentals: dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding, and defense.

Practices start this week!  Our first practice is this Friday 12/10 from 4:30-5:30 at Sports Court Fitness located at 3727 Bradview Dr #100, Sacramento, CA 95827.   The game schedule hasn't been released yet. Here's the URL for the Winter League Schedule.  This should be out January 2nd, and I'll make sure to send it out once it's been released.

For practices, please make sure your child arrives ready to play.  Bring a water bottle and your basketball (size 27.5 for kinders). For anyone with long hair, make sure it's pulled back and away from their face.  Also, any jewelry or other wearables should be removed to avoid injury, loss, or damage. Finally, if your child is unable to make it to practice, please let me know.

Lastly, if you're able to act as team parent or assistant coach this season, I would greatly appreciate it.  Practices can be more efficiently run with two coaches, and a team parent can support communication, organizing the snack schedule and awards.   There's no pressure, but if you have time, I'd love your support :).

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me by phone (831.227.6844) or email.  Also, if you have any additional email addresses you'd like me to add to this thread, please let me know.

Tyler Madden

Players should please bring their own basketball--we use full-size 29.5 inch diameter basketballs.  Basketball games will be on Sundays starting in January.  I'll forward a copy of the schedule when it is available.

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the 2nd Grade Seattle Storm! We are very excited for the opportunity to coach your child this season. We have met some of you at events with Kayleigh's sister Kirsten Williams, and look forward to connecting with everyone further. Special thanks to Kirsten for helping organize the team and inviting us to coach.

This will be Coach Kayleigh's first experience coaching, while Coach Jewels has coached middle school girls basketball in the past. We both have a love for the game of basketball, having played in our younger years through middle and high school.

Our top priority for this season is to make sure all of the kids have FUN, while building on teamwork and leadership skills, and gaining some basketball fundamentals along the way.

A few key points:

- Practices will be once per week on Wednesday starting on 12/6, from 5:00pm-6:00pm, at Sport Court Fitness located at 3727 Bradview Drive, Suite 100, Sacramento 95827. No practice will be held on 12/27.

- Players will be playing on an 8 foot hoop.

- We will be playing with a size 27.5 basketball. We would like each player to bring their own ball to practice.

- Please let us know if your child is unable to make it to practice.

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the Phoenix Suns Buzzardball team! My name is Danny, and my son is Bryce. This will be my 3rd year coaching a Buzzardball team, and I'm really excited for this season. We have a brand new team this year (with the exception of my son and Issara- they played together last year) and it should be a lot of fun! Looks like we have kids from Del Dayo, Cal Montessori, and two from Sac Waldorf (I've attached our roster to this email). I'm also happy to have Robert (Issara's dad) along side me as an assistant coach again for a 2nd year. I think we make a great coaching team.

I have Basketball experience under my belt- I played in high school and I also have some experience working with Marquette's basketball team during the 1998-1999 season. I'm a Suns fan (I'm from Arizona), but have also grown to respect the Kings, since living here. Haha.

My goals for this season are 1) Have the kids understand the fundamentals 2) Boost their Confidence 3) Understand the importance of Teamwork 4) Having fun and learn how to improve.

Key Notes:

- Practice Location: Legend Athletics - 3734 Bradview Dr, Suite B

- Practice Day/Time: Fridays, 4:30-5:30. I will usually be there a good 5-10 minutes early.

- Please have your child bring his own basketball (size 27.5) to practice- No need to bring one to the games, as it gets a little chaotic on those days. Also a good idea to write your child's name on his ball, in case it gets left behind.

- Please bring a water bottle to practice and games.

- Please let me know if your child will not be attending a practice or a game.

- Opening Day: Sunday, January 7, 2024

My wife, Jenn, will be helping out with informational emails, jersey distribution, etc. A text chain might be the easiest/quickest way to get certain info out to you, so please respond to this email with any phone numbers you'd like to have included in the text chain. We'll wait a week or two before sending out the first one.

Lastly, my family and I will be out of town during the first week of December so, unfortunately, I will need to cancel our 1st practice that is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 8th. We will still have a good 4 practices before our first game. (Dec. 15th, 22nd, 29th, and Jan. 5th) We can even schedule some additional practices at a local park on the weekends, if interested.

I look forward to a fun season, and please feel free to reach out to me with any questions, either through email or phone (cell: 916-606-0948).

Thank you and see you soon!

Danny Beaver

Sparks Team & Family,

We want to welcome all of you to the 2022 LA Sparks! My name is Shannon Wheatley (Caroline’s Dad), and I’ll be coaching alongside Elliott Smith (Addison’s Dad) this season. We’re honored and excited to coach your girls this year and look forward to building a community around them that will encourage their growth and development.

The purpose of this email is to provide you with the essential information you’ll need for the next few weeks. Coach Smith and I are meeting this weekend and will send a follow-up email on Monday with additional information and next steps.

WHEN’S THE FIRST PRACTICE?

When is it?

Our first practice is next Wednesday, December 8th from 6:30-7:30 pm at Sierra Oaks Elementary (3727 Bradview Dr Ste 100 Sacramento, CA 95827). This will be our same practice time and location for the entire season.

What do they bring?

Please have them bring a water bottle and their basketball (28.5 size ball) to every practice. We recommend labeling both to prevent any confusion or loss.

What’s the attire?

We ask that the girls arrive dressed and ready to play in comfortable clothes. We ask that their hair be held back away from their face for the duration of practice. No jewelry is allowed during practices or games to avoid injury or loss/damage.

What if we can’t make it to practice?

If your daughter is unable to make it to a practice or a game, please let me know as early as possible via email or text.

WHAT ARE THE RULES?

We’ll spend time teaching the girls the rules and expectations, but they are attached should you want to begin talking with your daughter about what to expect this season.

WHEN’S THE FIRST GAME?

Opening Day is Sunday, January 9th. All games will be held on Sundays at Arden Middle School. (1640 Watt Ave. Sacramento, CA 95864) Schedules will be finalized no later than January 2nd. We will email it to you as soon as it is available. (I’m also happy to send Calendar invitations as well once it’s final.)

HOW WILL WE COMMUNICATE WITH YOU? WITH EACH OTHER?

We will have weekly communications that will provide you with the information you need for the week ahead. In addition to email, we’re exploring a few different options to streamline communication between us and amongst you. (We’re considering a Shutterfly Shared Site but are open to other free recommendations!)

MEET THE COACHES

We’ll have the opportunity to meet Coach Elliott on Monday.

NO. 9 --

Good evening all!

Hope everyone is well!

With our roster complete, I am excited for the start of the '21-'22 Buzzardball Basketball season!

My name is Marc Larsen, your coach for this season. I see a lot of familiar names from soccer and flag football on the roster, so welcome back to you all! And for my newer players who I haven't coached before, welcome to the team!

Growing up and even to this day, basketball has easily been my favorite sport to play, as well as coach! I played all throughout high school and have been fortunate enough to play in recreational leagues and for my base team when I was active duty Air Force.

All being told, I am eager to pass on my appreciation of the game to your boys!

As coach, my goals for the boys are as follows:

1) Have FUN!

2) Improve on the fundamentals: dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounds, and defense

Our first practice will be Tuesday, December 7th, 430 to 530, at Sports Courts Fitness

If your boys could bring their own basketballs, 28.5 inches in diameter, to each practice, that would be very helpful, as I am unsure if Sports Courts has an inventory of extra basketballs on site.

Lastly, if any parent would like to help out at practices and games as an assistant coach, I would be supremely grateful!  Especially with my ongoing military duties in the California National Guard, there will be certain weekends where I will not be able to coach. For those interested in helping out, feel free to let me know.

Should you have any questions throughout the season, please do not hesitate to call or text, 707-816-8621.

See you all on Tuesday, December 7th!

Coach Marc

NO. 10 --

Hello Laker Parents,

My name is Chris Unzueta (“Coach Chris” for short) and I am excited to be the volunteer coach for your (and my) child’s basketball team this season.  I have previous coaching experience while working for the City of Sacramento and being a Sports and Recreation Director for the YMCA. I want to stress that this is first and foremost about the children having fun and experiencing a nurturing and productive introduction to the team sport of basketball, personal accolades and winning take a back seat to these priorities, so please keep this in mind throughout the season.

Currently I am the only coach and I welcome any parent that is interested in being an assistant coach (no experience needed).  If you plan to volunteer please email me and I will provide your information to the league director.

The season is fast approaching, so here are very important facts to get things rolling:

1)       Team name will be the Lakers.

2)       Practice Schedule:

a. Practices are scheduled for Friday Nights from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Practices will take place at First Church of God at 4400 58th St., Sacramento, CA 95820. Our first practice is scheduled for next Friday December 10th.

3)       Games are on Sundays and begin January 9th.  I will send the schedule once the available. We will be playing on the following days:

·      January 9th

·      January 16th

·      January 23rd

·      January 30th

·      February 6th

·      February 27th

4)       Picture day will take place the morning of February 13th

5)       We have 11 players on the team listed below:

·      Finnegan

·      Ben

·      Declan

·      Ryker

·      Coen

·      Valen

·      Nora

·      Anton

·      Annalise

·      Oxley

·      Oliva

6)       Please ensure your child is wearing proper attire when participating in practices or games.  Please be sure that they arrive in tennis shoes/basketball shoes and athletic attire. In addition, if you can purchase a ball for your child and bring to practice, it will make practice more engaging as each child will have a ball and we begin to focus on dribbling drills (not a requirement but recommended).  The basketball size we will be using this season will be 27.5.

Please confirm that you have received this email.  In addition, I will be creating a team website through Shutterfly. The website is very helpful as it has a calendar with the team practices, games, picture day information, and allows you to let me know your child's availability. You will receive an invite from Shutterfly asking you to create an account.  Please create an account as we will be managing all communication through the team website. I look forward to the upcoming season and coaching your child.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me or text me. My cell number is 916-541-5392. Also, please let me know if you would like me to add any additional email addresses to the distribution list.

 Let's go Lakers!

Regards,

Chris Unzueta
