FAQ Series No. 5 * What Does My Buzzardball Registration Include?
When families compare youth basketball programs, the registration fee is only part of the story.
The better question is:
What does my child—and our family—receive as part of the experience?
Buzzardball Winter League registration includes much more than a spot on a team. It provides a complete, family-friendly recreational basketball experience built around participation, development, competition and fun.
A Complete Basketball Experience
Every registered Buzzardball player receives:
A reversible, pro-style Buzzardball jersey
A professional Photo Day package
Weekly team practices
Sunday league games
Certified officials
On-site league directors
Free admission for all spectators
There are no weekly admission charges for parents, grandparents, siblings or friends. Families are encouraged to come watch, support their players and enjoy the experience together.
Equal Playing Time
Buzzardball is an all-play youth basketball league.
Every player deserves the opportunity to participate, contribute and develop. Equal playing time is not treated as an extra benefit—it is a foundational part of the Buzzardball experience. All our teams use a Buzzardball Sub Grid
Our goal is to help players improve their skills and confidence without allowing winning to become more important than participation.
Balanced Teams and Divisions
Information provided during registration helps us place players and form teams as thoughtfully as possible.
Depending on the division, Buzzardball offers Gold and Silver levels:
Gold is designed for more competitive and experienced players.
Silver is designed for beginner-to-mid-level players.
Some divisions begin the season together and are separated after the first two games. This allows us to observe the teams before creating divisions that offer better competitive balance.
Better balance creates better games—and a better experience for players, coaches and families.
Register Solo, With Friends or as a Team
Families have three ways to join Buzzardball:
Solo: Register individually, and we will place your child on a team.
Friends: Request to play with one or more friends.
Team: Register an existing team or friend group together.
Team and friend requests are important to us. While every request depends on space, division size and roster balance, I do my best to keep players together whenever possible.
Outstanding Coaches and League Support
Buzzardball coaches are an important part of the experience. They give their time to teach basketball, encourage players and create a positive team environment.
Coaches receive league guidance, rules and support throughout the season. Site directors are also present on game days to assist families, coaches and officials.
Family-Friendly Scheduling
Families are busy, and many Buzzardball players participate in other sports and activities.
During registration, parents can identify the practice days that work best for their family. I use that information when placing individual players and friend groups onto teams.
Practice requests cannot always be guaranteed, but I work directly with families to find the best available fit. Complete teams have additional flexibility because their coach helps select the team’s practice day and time.
Sacramento Kings and Golden 1 Center Opportunities
Buzzardball’s relationship with the Sacramento Kings provides families with special opportunities and ticket offers during the season.
Eligible Gold Division teams will also have the opportunity to play championship games at Golden 1 Center in March — an unforgettable experience for young basketball players.
Specific opportunities are based on availability and will be communicated to participating families during the season.

Players will learn basketball skills, but the Buzzardball experience is also designed to reinforce:
